Falcons Set to Soar as Premier Hockey League Returns for 2025

New Zealand’s biggest hockey league is back, and the Falcons are ready to take flight as the 2025 Premier Hockey League (PHL) season kicks off this November.

The competition launches on Saturday 8 November in Hawke’s Bay, with the Falcons opening their campaign against the Mavericks before embarking on a month of elite hockey across the country. From Dunedin to Whangārei, the league will once again showcase the best of New Zealand’s regional talent featuring the Alpiners, Falcons, Mavericks and Tridents.

For Wellington fans, all eyes turn to the home double-header weekend on 6–7 December at the National Hockey Stadium. The Falcons will host the Alpiners on Saturday (Women 2 pm, Men 4 pm) before returning to face the Tridents on Sunday (Women 1 pm, Men 3 pm). These back-to-back fixtures will be the final opportunity for local supporters to see their teams in action before the finals, and are set to bring an electric atmosphere to the capital.

The 2025 season will culminate with the Gold Medal Finals on Saturday 13 December at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Auckland, following a short rest break mid-season to keep teams fresh for the run home.

With fierce rivalries renewed, home-turf pride on the line, and national glory up for grabs, the Falcons’ 2025 PHL campaign promises plenty of intensity and entertainment.

Stay tuned for upcoming Falcons player and coach announcements, plus ticketing details for both the Hawkes Bay opener and the Wellington double-header weekend.
